INFORMATION
Funnix is a 120-lesson CD program that requires about 30 minutes
for each lesson. The program teaches beginning reading skills.
It assumes that the child is able to identify some letters of the alphabet.
It teaches the rest of the skills the child needs for a good set of foundation
skills.
The two CDs labeled Funnix Beginning Reading Disc 1 and
Funnix Beginning Reading Disc 2 present the lessons. A
narrator takes the parent and child through 7 to 11 exercises per lesson.
The lessons are designed to be presented in sequence, starting with Lesson
1 and continuing through Lesson 120.
The last part of each lesson involves a page from the Workbook.
Information that the child needs to do some of the Workbook items appears
on the screen. For other Workbook tasks, the narrator gives the child information
orally. As the program teaches the child more reading skills, the Workbook
tasks gradually become less structured and more complex.
The disc labeled Parent Disc presents how-to information
about teaching the program and making it fun. Go through the Parent
Disc (which takes 1 hour 15 minutes). Make sure you're familiar
with the program's conventions, before you present Lesson 1 to your child.
Follow along with the Parent Manual
when you review the Parent Disc. The Parent Manual
reminds you of the important details that need to be in place for the lessons
to go smoothly. These details are covered thoroughly in the Parent Disc.

Additional Workbooks, a free alphabet program and a free Demo lesson are
currently available.
A free Alphabet
Program can be used to see if your child is ready to start in Funnix.
If your child isn't ready, you can use versions of the Alphabet Program
to teach your child the skills the child needs to start in Funnix.
A free Demo lesson is also available for downloading.
The sample lesson gives you a detailed snapshot of the daily activities your
child will do in Funnix.
Additional Workbooks are $22.00 plus shipping
costs. These are copies of the same Workbook that comes with the program.
Use a second Workbook if you are going to teach another child later, or
two children at the same time. Also, if you want to repeat many lessons,
a second Workbook is handy.
